Welcome to the Transition Movement!
It all starts off when a small collection of motivated individuals within a community come together with a shared concern: how can our community respond to the challenges, and opportunities, of Peak Oil, Climate Change and the Financial Crisis?

New year, new supper club dates
The December Supper Club held on 16 December was enjoyed by many starting their Christmas celebrations. It was good to see so many people from the local community having fun and supporting local producers.
Geraldine from Transition Narberth has kindly agreed to come along to the first supper club of the New Year (13 January) to talk to us about the tree planting project in Narberth. We are planning to start a similar project here in Haverfordwest. The idea being is that we invite people to sponsor fruit and nut trees which are planted around our community, so in time anyone can help themselves to the fruit and nuts produced … that’ll be true local produce!
If you’re interested in getting involved in the project, either by helping to co-ordinate it, or sponsoring a tree, come along to the supper club to find out more.
November supper club great success
The second Supper Club held on 11 November was a great success with 65 people enjoying the delicious local food cooked by Spring Gardens Catering. It was great to see so many people from the local community having fun and supporting local producers. 80% of the food was locally sourced.
The next supper club on 16 December looks amazing so get your order in early to be sure of a place. To book, call Sally on 07766 213606 or email mail@transitionhaverfordwest.org.uk. Please book by Wednesday 14 December at the latest, giving the names and food orders of all the people in your party.

First supper club a great success
The first Freshly Pembrokeshire Supper Club held on 14 October was a great success. The Picton Centre was transformed into an atmospheric bistro-style restaurant which set the scene for the evening. It was good to see so many of the Farmers Market stallholders enjoying a social evening, tucking into their own delicious produce and meeting others from the local community.
Many thanks to Robbie and Freddie from Spring Gardens Catering for serving up such a mouth-watering menu. The Spanish lamb meatballs made from local lamb, and the vegetarian curry showed off local produce at its best.
Several bookings have already been made for the next supper club on 11 November so get your order in early to be sure of a place. To book, call Sally on 07766 213606 or email mail@transitionhaverfordwest.org.uk. Please book by Wednesday 9 November at the latest, giving the names and food orders of all the people in your party. The food is bought and cooked to order to ensure there is absolutely no waste.

Flag making for the Haverfordwest Green Fayre 2011
Pip Lewis and Guy Norman from spacetocreate have been working with four Junior Schools in Haverfordwest, Fenton, Mary Immaculate, Haverfordwest VC School and Ysgol Glan Cleddau creating eight flags for the Green Fayre. The flag project was partly funded by the Milford Haven Port Authority.
They worked with one Year 5 class from each school, and split the class into two, with approximately 15 children working on one flag. The designs were generated following a discussion with the children about a specific eco theme and what it meant to them. Two flags were made in each school with the following themes:
- Fenton: Traditional crafts and Caring and Sharing
- Haverfordwest VC: Green Transport and Local Food
- Ysgol Glan Cleddau: Reduce, Reuse Recycle and Caring Community
- Mary Immaculate: Renewable Energy and Looking after nature
The children used a heat print transfer process to apply the images and text onto the flag.
Two children from each of the groups have been asked if they would like to come along and carry the flags at the beginning of the sambadoc procession in Castle Square at 11 am on the day of the Green Fayre – with all the other children invited to come along to hand out flyers to advertise the event!
The flags will then be displayed outside the Picton Centre for the day, and after the Fayre each of the schools involved will be able to use the set of eight flags for their own eco events in their school.
Many thanks to the Milford Haven Port Authority for partly funding the project and to Space to Create for undertaking it.
