It all starts off when a small collection of motivated individuals within a community come together with a shared concern: how can our community respond to the challenges, and opportunities, of Peak Oil, Climate Change and the Financial Crisis?

This new initiative, Transition Haverfordwest, will seek to engage all sectors of the community in addressing this, the great transition of our time. We offer no fixed answers, rather believing the solutions will arise from engaging the creativity, imagination and knowledge of the community. Transition Haverfordwest’s objective is to stimulate creative thought for how Haverfordwest can move towards a sustainable future. It will be fun, engaging, inspiring and positive, putting Haverfordwest  on the map as a community that is engaging its creativity and collective genius with this timely and pressing issue. We look forward to your participation.

We truly don’t know if this will work. Transition is a social experiment on a massive scale. What we are convinced of is this:

  • if we wait for the governments, it’ll be too little, too late
  • if we act as individuals, it’ll be too little
  • but if we act together as communities, it might just be enough, just in time

We have set up a coordinating group of interested individuals to drive the project forward during the initial phases and we already have various sub groups focusing on specific projects such as Going Plastic Bag FreeHaverfordwet Green Fayre & Education Through Music.

Transition Haverfordwest Co-ordinating Group

We hold a Coordinating Group meeting on the 1st Monday of every month.

We meet at 7pm to share food, which gives us the opportunity to catch up socially before the meeting starts at 7.30pm.  The group is there to co-ordinate all the different transition activities and new people with their new ideas are always welcome.

If you are interested in finding out more, or if you’d like to come along to a meeting to see what you think, please contact us.

If you are keen to get active and participate in the transition we would love to hear from you…
