Watercress as fresh as it gets!
The New Year got off to a good start with our first supper club on 13 January. The food was delicious and couldn’t have been more local – not only was there wild sea beet in the tartlet starters, but the garnish of wild watercress had been picked within the hour – you can’t get much fresher than that!
Many thanks to Geraldine from the Narberth transition group who came to talk to us about their tree planting project. Her talk was an inspiration to everyone and the decision is to launch a fruit and nut tree project in Haverfordwest. So if you’re interested in getting involved in the project, either by helping to co-ordinate it, or sponsoring a tree, please email us.

New year, new supper club dates
The December Supper Club held on 16 December was enjoyed by many starting their Christmas celebrations. It was good to see so many people from the local community having fun and supporting local producers.
Geraldine from Transition Narberth has kindly agreed to come along to the first supper club of the New Year (13 January) to talk to us about the tree planting project in Narberth. We are planning to start a similar project here in Haverfordwest. The idea being is that we invite people to sponsor fruit and nut trees which are planted around our community, so in time anyone can help themselves to the fruit and nuts produced … that’ll be true local produce!
If you’re interested in getting involved in the project, either by helping to co-ordinate it, or sponsoring a tree, come along to the supper club to find out more.

First supper club a great success
The first Freshly Pembrokeshire Supper Club held on 14 October was a great success. The Picton Centre was transformed into an atmospheric bistro-style restaurant which set the scene for the evening. It was good to see so many of the Farmers Market stallholders enjoying a social evening, tucking into their own delicious produce and meeting others from the local community.
Many thanks to Robbie and Freddie from Spring Gardens Catering for serving up such a mouth-watering menu. The Spanish lamb meatballs made from local lamb, and the vegetarian curry showed off local produce at its best.
Several bookings have already been made for the next supper club on 11 November so get your order in early to be sure of a place. To book, call Sally on 07766 213606 or email mail@transitionhaverfordwest.org.uk. Please book by Wednesday 9 November at the latest, giving the names and food orders of all the people in your party.
